Weapon Animation Validation #6 Maschinenpistole 40 Hip-Fire
We’ve completed the next weapon animation validation test for the Heroes & Generals rebuild.
This prototype focuses specifically on the Maschinenpistole 40 (MP40) hip-fire burst animation, including automatic fire behavior, burst recoil timing, repeated weapon kick, hand movement, weapon recovery, pacing, synchronization, and overall first person weapon feel.
What This Test Covers:
Maschinenpistole 40 hip-fire burst animation
Automatic hip-fire behavior
Burst recoil timing
Repeated weapon kick
Hand movement during sustained fire
Weapon recovery and return to control
Recoil rhythm and pacing
Overall first person weapon feel
The side by side comparison uses original H&G reference footage alongside the current prototype animation, aligned for timing and visual comparison.
These animation tests may be shown either directly from animation software or from Unreal Engine, depending on the current stage of testing.
This is not a visual showcase. The weapon, arms, rig, textures, and other presentation elements are placeholders.
The goal is to validate weapon animations for the weapons currently planned for the vertical slice before they are integrated into the full prototype environment.
Result:
The hip-fire burst animation follows the expected structure and pacing.
Repeated weapon kick and recoil timing align closely with the original reference.
Hand and weapon movement remain controlled and consistent with the intended H&G feel.
Recoil and recovery remain clear from a first person perspective.
The animation returns cleanly toward the hip-fire position after the burst.
